You understand nutrition. You understand discipline. You know what you “should” be doing and you’ve likely tried many things to get this under control.
Yet, there are times when reaching for food happens automatically.
But then comes the frustration, self-criticism, the promise to do better tomorrow. For many of us, this cycle feels painfully familiar.
But this isn’t just about food – there is something deeper at play. And once that deeper pattern is understood, it can be changed.
Emotional eating makes perfect sense when you understand where it began. At some point earlier in your life, you needed a way to cope with feelings that felt too big, confusing, or overwhelming. Food was available, reliable, and it worked – it soothed, distracted, comforted, or gave you a sense of control.
When you didn’t yet have the language, support, or emotional skills, this strategy helped you get by. Your nervous system learned, “This brings relief,” and it repeated the pattern. Over time, that coping mechanism became automatic, even when your skills and understanding had grown. Now, the pattern isn’t wrong, it’s simply outdated.
Because it was never truly about the food – it has always been about the emotional need underneath.
Because underneath the craving is a need to stop feeling angry, sad, lonely, overwhelmed or even simply to stop feeling anything at all.
The First Light is a practical 3-week course, designed to update the subconscious pattern driving emotional eating.
Rather than managing behaviour from the outside, this work engages the part of you that learned to use food for comfort, relief, or reward, and helps it develop healthier, more sustainable ways to respond.
Through guided hypnosis, structured tracking and reflection, you will begin to:
This isn’t about eating perfectly. It’s about no longer feeling controlled.
Emotional eating isn’t a thinking problem. It’s a pattern stored beneath conscious thought. You can know exactly what to do and still find yourself moving in the opposite direction.
That’s because habits, emotional associations, and survival responses aren’t stored in the logical part of the mind — they’re organised in the subconscious, the part responsible for automatic behaviour, where patterns and habits are held. At some point, your system linked food with relief, comfort, safety, or control, and that association lives below conscious reasoning.
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring, focused state of attention — similar to driving on autopilot or becoming immersed in a book — where you remain fully aware and in control. In this state, the critical, analytical layer of the mind relaxes just enough to access the subconscious, allowing associations to be revisited, updated, and reorganised.
When the emotional wiring changes, behaviour follows. The shift isn’t dramatic — it’s structural. You think about food less. You react less. You negotiate less.
Understanding the Pattern and the 9 Emotional Triggers
In the first week, you step back and look at emotional eating through a different lens, without judgement or shame. You’ll learn how you can get stuck in the subconscious loop of emotional eating: Emotion → food → temporary relief → self-criticism → repeat.
You’ll also be introduced to the 9 emotional triggers that commonly drive the pattern — including comfort, exhaustion, avoidance, control, reward, celebration, reactance, boredom, and numbing. Rather than seeing your eating as random or “out of control,” you begin to recognise it as patterned and predictable.
Through hypnosis and structured tracking, you start identifying which triggers are most active for you. This clarity changes everything because when the pattern is understood, it becomes workable. For many women, Week 1 brings immediate relief, not because the behaviour disappears overnight, but because the confusion does.
Identify Your Top Triggers + Understand the Story Beneath Them
You’ll complete the Trigger Finder Quiz to identify the emotional triggers that drive your eating most strongly. You’ll begin tracing where your patterns began, where food first became associated with comfort, control, relief, reward, or escape.
As you uncover your story, you also begin revealing the deeper need beneath it all, so that need can be met directly, without food. You’ll also explore what your cravings are trying to tell you. Creamy or sweet foods often signal a need for comfort, closeness, or warmth, echoing early nurturing experiences. Heavy, warm meals can feel grounding when life feels scattered.
Instead of the urge feeling like it appears from nowhere, you begin to see the pattern unfolding. And that awareness creates the pause. The pause is where choice becomes possible.
Updating the Belief Beneath the Trigger
By the third week, you are no longer working only with behaviour — you are working with belief. And when beliefs start to shift, everything changes. Every trigger connects to a deeper belief about yourself: I’m alone with this. If I control my food I feel safe. I can’t deal with this right now.
Week 3 focuses on uncovering and updating the beliefs that are holding you back. Through repeated hypnosis sessions, new beliefs are rehearsed and instilled until they begin to feel familiar: I am supported and connected. I am steady, even when life feels uncertain. I am capable of handling discomfort.
As belief shifts, identity shifts, and healthier behaviour follows naturally. This is where many women notice the most profound change, as a more empowered version of themselves begins to emerge.
This isn’t about becoming perfect with food. It’s about no longer feeling controlled by it.
With the old pattern no longer occupying so much of your inner world, space begins to open up, to pause and choose with intention.
You know have the room to ask; How do I want to show up? What no longer serves me? What actions and beliefs align with the woman that I am becoming?
Because when the weight of food lightens and the energy becomes available for insight, purpose and creativity you begin to see your uniqueness more clearly.

Hi, I’m Heather – hypnotherapist and founder of Mind of Peace.
For years, I’ve worked with intelligent, capable women who understand nutrition, discipline, and self-development… yet still find themselves pulled into patterns that don’t respond to logic alone.
I specialise in helping people update long-standing coping strategies, anxiety-driven habits, and identity-level beliefs by accessing the part of the mind where the association was first created, then restructuring it safely.
This is the foundation The First Light is built on. Every step is intentional, carefully guided, and grounded in how the subconscious actually works.
If you’re ready for long-term transformational change, I’ll walk this with you. You don’t have to do it alone.
Frequently asked questions
No. This is an educational, self-guided course that uses hypnosis, insight, and reflection. It is not a replacement for therapy, but many participants find it complements therapeutic or personal development work well.
That’s common. Most people who arrive here are not beginners — they’re thoughtful, self-aware, and tired of managing the same pattern.
This work engages the level where emotional eating patterns are formed, rather than asking you to override them with willpower.
No experience is required. The hypnosis used in The First Light is gentle, grounding, and designed to feel safe and natural — not intense or theatrical.
Approximately 30–40 minutes per week. The course is designed to fit into real life without pressure or overwhelm.
No. This course is not about food rules, plans, or restriction. The focus is on changing the internal relationship that drives emotional eating.
Designed to access the emotional pattern driving your eating and rehearse new responses at belief and identity level.
Introducing the psychological framework of the week. You won’t just be told what to do. You’ll learn why the pattern exists.
Brings the core learning together in a clear, easy-to-reference format.
You’ll have ongoing access to all materials, allowing you to revisit the hypnosis sessions and frameworks whenever reinforcement or deeper integration is needed.
If you’re ready to stop managing the symptoms short term, only to find yourself back where you began, and instead choose work that creates real, sustainable change, this is where it begins.
Consider what this strategy has already cost you mentally, emotionally, energetically. The First Light is a decision to stop paying that hidden cost.
